Additional Speaker for our Internet Safety Day!
We are gearing up for our 2nd annual Macomb Online Safety Day, April 1st.
There will be two events April 1st.
From 1:45-2:30, I will be giving an Internet Safety assembly to all 2nd and 3rd grade students at Lincoln Elementary School. All second and third grade students completed an eight-week online safety curriculum that I developed over the past three years. At the end of the lessons, the children participated in a poster contest.
Two weeks ago, the panel of "celebrity judges", which consisted of local law and fire enforcement, chose the winning posters. During our assembly, after the presentation, the principal and myself will finally announce the winners of the poster contest! Prizes will be awarded at that time.
At 6:30 P.M., the Macomb Online Safety Team(M.O.S.T.) and the Regional Office of Education will hold our community wide event, focusing on the growing problem of cyberbullying.
- Our honorable Mayor of Macomb will make a special proclamation.
- Miss Macomb will be our emcee.
- Results of the Macomb Junior and Senior High School cyberbullying survey will be presented
- Jace Shoemaker-Galloway(me) will show a special cyberbullying movie, including music from talented musicians Rob Costlow and Novenda
- Sarah Migas, Internet Safety Specialist from the High Tech Crimes Bureau of the Office of the Illinois Attorney General, will be our first guest speaker.
- And our very special keynote speaker, nationally recognized speaker and cyberbullying advocate, Tina Meier, will share her compelling story to our community.
This will be a phenomenal evening. For those of you in the area, I highly encourage you to attend. Please contact me for further.
