Texting Outlawed While Driving
Texting is an issue many parents are concerned about. On Wednesday, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger signed into law a bill making it illegal to text while driving no matter how old, or young, you are. Beginning January 1, 2009, California drivers will face penalites if they read, send or write messages via electronic means while driving a motor vehicle.
Whether you are 16 or 60, texting and driving is just plain dangerous. Now, it is against the law in California.
More Online Predator Arrests
Although many parents and children are now aware of online predators, it is important for parents to remain vigilant and aware as to the many potential risks and dangers our children may face online.
Pennsylvania nabbed two more sexual predators bringing the total arrests by the Attorney General Child Predator Unit, which began in 2005, to a whopping 164. One of the men arrested, was allegedly having explicit online conversations with a 12-year-old girl. Lucikly, her parents found the disturbing information and contacted the Unit. Attorney General Tom Corbett said this incident was the second case this month in which parents alerted officials.

IL Governor Signs Cyberbullying Bill
Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich, finally signed SB2426 into law. Now known as the Cyberbullying Law, the new law amends the Harassing and Obscene Communications Act.
Illinois Steps Up, Finally, to Internet Safety
Good news for folks in Illinois. Governor Rod Blagojevich signed the Internet Safety Education Curriculum Bill into law this morning. The new law goes into effect for the 2009/2010 school year. The law requires schools to include Internet safety into their curriculum in grades three and above at least once a year and also includes a few other stipulations
At least, it's a start.
Developmentally Disabled Twins MISSING
Mary and Morgan Corrodi have been missing from their California home since Sunday. The twins , 16-years-old, are developmentally disabled and according to their parents, and although they look older than 16, they are quite "naive".
The parents recently discovered the girls had MySpace and Facebook profiles and are concerned the girls may have met someone online. Currently, law enforcement officials have not issued an Amber Alert. If you have any information, contact the local law enforcement officials. More to follow.
KIds, Driving and Cell Phones
If you have children who are of driving age who have cell phones, read on.
The idea of children driving while talking on cell phones is concerning for many parents. But many children not only talk on the phone while driving, they drive and text at the same time. Some states are now looking at this growing safety issue and taking steps to prevent this behavior behind the wheel.
